The Problem

Partner and driver notifications were sent via SMS, and costs climbed with every user added to the platform. The company needed a dedicated notification system that delivers reliably at a fraction of the cost.

  • Rising SMS costs for partner and driver notifications
  • No push notification infrastructure in place
  • Reliability requirements: partners and drivers depend on delivery for dispatch and tracking

Our Solution

We built a notification platform from scratch: 5 microservices with clean separation of concerns, FCM and HMS as the primary delivery channels, PostgreSQL storage, and CI/CD with unit-tested business logic.

  • Designed a 5-microservice architecture (SOLID, OOP)
  • Integrated Firebase Cloud Messaging and HMS API as the primary delivery channel for partner and driver notifications
  • Built on PostgreSQL for message storage
  • Covered business logic with unit tests
  • Set up GitLab CI and Jenkins pipelines so new features ship faster and safer
  • Every change shipped through code review

The Result

SMS costs dropped 92%. The platform handles 15,000 RPS with headroom to scale to 100,000 without any further changes.

  • SMS costs cut 92% by moving partner and driver notifications to push
  • 15,000 RPS capacity, scalable to 100,000 without changes
  • Reliable delivery to partners and drivers via FCM and HMS
  • Fewer release incidents after unit testing was introduced
  • CI/CD cut the cost and time of shipping new features

What this means for you

Notifications are the backbone of dispatch and tracking workflows. If yours are expensive to send and slow to change, the cost compounds with every shipment and every customer.
